Before servicing the SRS system components, turn off the ignition, disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least one minute.

The airbags and seat belt pretensioners may deploy for three minutes after the wire has been disconnected. Do not touch the connectors of any SRS components for at least three minutes after the wire has been disconnected from the battery.

For proper orientation, the diagnostic sensors must be installed with the arrows facing the front of the vehicle. In addition, the diagnostic sensor housing must be inspected for cracks, signs of deformation or rust and replaced if necessary.

The contact disc must be set to the position corresponding to the neutral position of the steering wheel, since the free movement of the wire is limited. Do not turn the steering wheel if the steering gear has been removed.

Handle the airbag modules with care. Always store the front airbag modules with the part with the decorative cover facing outward. The side airbag modules should be stored with the part with the pin facing downward.

After performing any operations involving the replacement of any components of the SRS system, it is necessary to check the functionality of the entire system.

After the front airbag has deployed, if the instrument panel is damaged, it must be replaced as an assembly.

The instrument panel must be replaced if the front passenger airbag is deployed.

Disposal, reuse, and transportation of inflatable airbag modules and pre-tensioners must be performed in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

Caution: Always place the airbag module with the trim facing up.

  • Do not insert foreign objects (for example, a screwdriver) into the airbag module or wire connectors.
  • Do not disassemble the airbag module.
  • Do not allow the airbag module to heat up to temperatures above 90°C.
  • Replace the airbag module with a new one if it has been subjected to impact or fall.
  • Do not allow oil, grease or water to come into contact with the airbag module.
  • When handling air bag modules, always hold them with the facing away from you. Otherwise, there is a risk of serious injury due to accidental air bag deployment.
