Removal and installation rear brake components (Mazda CX-5KE)

1. Loosen the parking brake adjusting nut.

2. Remove the rear disc brake components in the sequence shown in the figure.

Note: replace the part with a new one after each removal.

3. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:

• Clean the visible parts of the piston.
• Slowly rotate the piston using a special tool, fully press the piston into the cylinder so that the piston grooves are set in the position shown in the figure.

• Install the caliper.
• Install the parking brake cable to the rear caliper.

Make sure that the tabs on the outer edge of the parking brake cable are securely connected to the bracket.



4. After installation, add brake fluid to the reservoir, remove air from the brake system and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir again.

5. Press the brake pedal several times and check the following:

• The brake pad projections are securely inserted into the piston grooves.
• Parking brake lever travel.
• Brakes sticking.
