Failures and short-term malfunctions of sensors are recorded in the control unit's fault memory. Recorded faults can be read in workshops using a special MAZDA self-diagnostic device (SST 49H0189A1). The fault code provides information on where in the ignition or injection system the fault should be looked for. A detailed test catalog is needed to determine the specific fault. In addition, most tests require the use of special devices that are usually not included in the home workshop kit. Therefore, only some general test instructions are given here. A detailed test should be performed in a specialized workshop.

General Instructions for Verification

Attention! If the self-diagnosis device has detected a fault, for example, of the coolant temperature sensor, the fault may also be inside the control unit. The fault can be determined either by replacing the sensor or by further detailed testing using special devices (is done in the workshop).

Note: Workshops do not accept returns of purchased but unused parts.

1. Disconnect the cables, check the reliability of the connections, remove corrosion.

2. Check the cable fastening.

3. Check the resistance of the faulty part and compare it with the required value.

4. Check the wires to the control device for current flow using an ohmmeter

Attention! When the battery is disconnected, the faults in the control unit memory are erased. If the same faults appear during further operation, they are recorded in the memory again.
