Note: Never remove the radiator cap or loosen the radiator drain plug while the engine is running or while the radiator is hot.

Care should be taken when removing the radiator cap (fig. 2.210).
Stop the engine and let it cool.
Wrap a thick cloth around the lid and slowly turn it counterclockwise until you reach the first stop.

Move away from the radiator while the pressure is released. Make sure the pressure has dropped, press on the cap without removing the cloth, unscrew and remove it.
Make sure the coolant level in the expansion tank is between the F and L marks. If the coolant level is below the L mark, remove the radiator cap and add coolant.
