Install the oil pump chain.
Fig. 2.189. Fixing the oil pump chain with a special device
Secure the oil pump sprocket with a special tool (fig. 2.189).
Install the oil pump chain guide.
Install the oil pump drive chain tensioner.
Fig. 2.190. Installing a special device on the camshaft
Install a special device on the camshaft, then set the piston of the first cylinder to the TDC position (fig. 2.190).
Remove the lower cylinder block plug.
Fig. 2.191. Installation of a special device
Install the special device as shown in Figure 2.191.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise to TDC of the piston of cylinder No.1.
Install the timing chain.
Fig. 2.192. Installing the chain tensioner
Install the chain tensioner and remove the retaining wire (fig. 2.192).
Fig. 2.193. Camshaft lock
Hold the camshaft using a suitable Allen key as shown in Figure 2.193.
Tighten the camshaft sprocket mounting bolt.
Tightening torque: 69–75 Nm.
Apply clean engine oil to the front crankshaft oil seal.
Lightly press the seal in by hand.
Press in the seal using a special tool and a hammer.
Fig. 2.194. Places where sealant is applied to the front engine cover
Apply silicone sealant to the front engine cover as shown in Figure 2.194.
Note: Install the cylinder head cover 10 minutes after applying the sealant.
Note: Silicone sealant is not required in area C shown in the figure as it is already present there (L3 with variable valve timing mechanism).
Thickness:
- A: 2.0-3.0 mm;
- B: 1.5–2.5 mm.
Fig. 2.195. Cylinder head cover bolt tightening sequence
Install the cylinder head cover mounting bolts in the order shown in Figure 2.195.
Reinstall the special tool on the camshaft as shown in Figure 2.191.
Fig. 2.196. Installing the lock bolt on the crankshaft pulley
Screw in the M6x1.0 bolt by hand (fig. 2.196).
Turn the crankshaft clockwise to TDC of the piston of cylinder No.1.
Fig. 2.197. Crankshaft pulley lock
Hold the crankshaft pulley from turning using a special device (fig. 2.197).
Tighten the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt in two steps.
- Tighten to 96–104 N·m.
- Tighten to 87–93°.
Unscrew the M6x1.0 bolt.
Remove the special tool from the camshaft.
Remove the special tool from the hole in the lower plug of the cylinder block.
Turn the crankshaft clockwise two revolutions to the TDC position.
If the TDC position cannot be reached, loosen the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt and repeat the procedure.
Install the lower cylinder block plug.
Tightening torque: 20 Nm.
Fig. 2.198. Places of sealant application
Apply silicone sealant to the mating surfaces as shown in Figure 2.198.
Note: Install the cylinder head cover 10 minutes after applying the sealant.
Note: Dot diameter: 4.0-6.0mm.
Install the cylinder head cover with a new gasket.
