Timing Belt Drive Pulley — removal and installation (Mazda Capella GC)

Removal

Remove the timing belt.

Insert a large screwdriver into the access hole in the clutch housing and push it between the teeth of the flywheel ring gear, thereby preventing the crankshaft from turning. With an assistant holding a screwdriver, loosen the crankshaft drive pulley bolt, remove the washer and pulley.

Remove the timing belt pulley from the crankshaft. If the pulley woodruff key is loose, remove the key.

Installation

Install the key (if it was removed).

Lightly lubricate the key and nose of the crankshaft. Install the timing belt pulley onto the crankshaft and hand tighten the pulley mounting bolt. After securing the crankshaft from turning, tighten the pulley mounting bolt to the required torque.

Put on the timing belt and adjust its tension.
