Replacing the oil pump seal — removal and installation (Mazda Capella GC)

Removal

Remove the camshaft timing belt cover and timing belt.

Remove the drive belt pulley and timing belt pulley from the crankshaft.

Place a screwdriver under the oil seal and remove it from its socket in the front cover.

Installation

Lubricate the seal lip with engine oil and install the seal with the lip facing inward.

Using a special tubular mandrel and a hammer, install the seal into the socket with light, even blows.

Install the timing belt pulley and crankshaft drive belt pulley in place.

Install the camshaft timing belt and belt covers.
