Fill the windshield washer reservoir only with special liquid intended for the washer or with clean water. It is dangerous to use low-freeze coolant as a windshield washer fluid. If coolant gets on the windshield, visibility through the glass will be impaired, which may lead to a traffic accident.

Check the fluid level in the windshield washer reservoir. Add windshield washer fluid if necessary (fig. 1.184).

To check the fluid level in the front washer reservoir, remove the cap from the reservoir neck. Then close the hole in the center of the cap with your finger and, without releasing your finger, lift the cap up. The fluid level in the windshield washer reservoir corresponds to the height of the liquid column in the transparent tube attached to the cap. Add windshield washer fluid if necessary. If there is no washer fluid, use ordinary clean water to fill the reservoir (at positive ambient temperature). However, at negative ambient temperatures it is necessary to use only low-freezing windshield washer fluid.

Note: The windshield and liftgate glass washers use fluid from the same reservoir.
