Removal and installation the ion sensor
Note: Since the ion sensor is built into the ignition coil, replacing the ion sensor involves replacing the ignition coil.

Checking fault codes
1. Connect the M-MDS device to the DLC-2 diagnostic connector.
2. Perform a trouble code check using the M-MDS tool. If a trouble code related to the ion sensors is detected, correct the fault.
Visual inspection
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the decorative engine cover.
3. Remove the ignition coil/ion sensor.
4. Check that there is no damage to the ignition coil/ion sensor, and that there is no corrosion or damage to the connector. If any defects are found, replace the ignition coil/ion sensor.
