Removal the front wheel drive shafts (Mazda Familia BF)

Place the front of the car on stands and remove the wheel.

Remove the plastic shield from the wheel arch.

Remove the plastic shield from the wheel arch.


Drain the oil from the gearbox.

Unlock and unscrew the hub mounting nut on the outer joint housing of the wheel drive shaft.

To make it easier to loosen the nut, lock the wheel hub by pressing the brake pedal.

Disconnect the stabilizer bar from the front suspension arm.

Disconnect the ball joint of the suspension arm from the steering knuckle by unscrewing its mounting bolt.

Remove the end of the inner joint of the wheel drive shaft from the gearbox axle gears, acting in the following sequence:

  • insert a lever between the gearbox housing and the inner joint of the shaft;
  • gradually remove the tip of the inner joint of the wheel drive from the hole of the axle gear, applying force to the steering knuckle and simultaneously hitting the end of the lever (see photo).

Loosen the outer joint nut, removing the thrust washer at the same time. Disconnect the shaft from the steering knuckle and remove the wheel drive.



Note: If the shaft is locked in the hub, use a wheel hub puller to remove it.


Remove the other wheel drive in the same manner.

Warning! Do not move the vehicle after removing the drive shaft to avoid turning the axle gears inside the differential.
