Straightening

1. Knock out small dents with a straightening hammer, holding a hand anvil on the opposite side. Do not knock too hard, otherwise the metal will stretch and will not acquire a smooth surface. Work evenly, moving from the edge to the middle of the damaged area.
2. Constantly feel the surface being straightened with your hand until it acquires the desired shape. Small irregularities are subsequently removed with putty.

3. After straightening, carefully remove rust and old paint. Either with coarse sandpaper (120 grit) on a wooden block, or with appropriate sanding sheets on a sanding wheel, cover nearby decorative moldings and plastic parts with protective film so as not to scratch them by accident.
