Delayed, incomplete or poor performance of the daily inspection or maintenance can cause a malfunction of the vehicle. This chapter provides instructions for performing daily check-ups, vehicle care, and vehicle maintenance operations that can be easily performed by the owner.
Some maintenance operations can only be performed by a qualified technician using a special tool.
Failure to properly perform maintenance yourself may void your vehicle's factory warranty. For more information about the terms of the factory warranty, please refer to the brochure «Manufacturer's Warranty», supplied with the vehicle. If you find it difficult to perform a particular maintenance operation on your car, contact a service station of an authorized Mazda dealer.
There are now strict environmental laws governing the disposal of used oils and fluids. When disposing of used consumables and waste, follow the applicable regulations and take care of the environment.
We recommend that you change the oil and fluids at the service stations of authorized Mazda dealers.
Attention.
- You should not carry out maintenance work on the car yourself if you do not have the appropriate knowledge and practical experience or do not have the necessary tools and equipment. Contact an Authorized Mazda Dealer to have your vehicle serviced by a qualified technician.
- If the instructions and appropriate safety precautions are not followed, performing vehicle maintenance can be hazardous. Incorrect performance of some maintenance operations is associated with the risk of serious injury.
- If it is necessary to carry out work in the engine compartment with the engine running, be sure to remove all decorations (especially rings, bracelets, watches, chains), and a tie, scarf, or similar loose piece of clothing before approaching the engine or cooling fan directly (which can suddenly turn on and start spinning).
- It is dangerous to work in the engine compartment with the engine running. The risk of injury is even higher if you are wearing jewelry or loose-fitting clothing. Jewelery and bulky or long pieces of clothing can get caught in rotating parts, resulting in personal injury.
- Stop the engine, turn off the ignition and check. that the radiator cooling fan is not rotating before checking and working near the fan blade rotation area.
- It is dangerous to carry out any work near the rotation zone of the fan blades when the fan is rotating. If the engine has not cooled down, then the radiator cooling fan may continue to rotate even when the engine is not running, when the ignition is turned off. You can be seriously injured by being hit by the fan blades.
- Do not leave any foreign objects in the engine compartment.
- After performing inspections in the engine compartment or car maintenance, do not forget to reinstall the removed covers and remove tools, rags and other items from the engine compartment. Tools, rags, and other foreign objects left in the engine compartment may cause damage to the engine and its equipment, or cause unexpected ignition in the engine compartment and a fire, resulting in a traffic accident.
