Attention.
Polishes that are applied hot to the bodywork at automated car washes can significantly impair the quality of cleaning the glass surface with a windshield wiper.
To prevent damage to the rubber bands on the wiper blades, do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint thinner, or other solvents to wipe the wiper blades or glass.
If the wiper control lever is set to «AUTO» («Auto mode») and the ignition is on, the wiper may automatically turn on in the following cases:
- if you touch the windshield in the area above the rain sensor;
- if you wipe the windshield over the rain sensor with a rag;
- if the windshield is hit with a hand or other object;
- if you strike the rain sensor with your hand or other object from inside the vehicle.
Be careful not to pinch your hand or fingers as this could result in injury or damage to the wiper. Before washing or servicing the vehicle, make sure the wiper control is in the «OFF» («Turned off»).
Contamination of both the windshield and the wiper blades with foreign matter can reduce the quality of glass cleaning. Such contaminants include, for example, insects, tree sap, and polishes that are applied hot to the car body at some car washes.
If the brushes do not clean the glass well, wash the glass and brush bands with an effective cleaner or mild detergent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. If necessary, repeat the treatment of glass and brushes.
Replacing the front wiper blades
If the windshield wiper does not clean the glass well, wear or cracks in the cleaning belts of the brushes are possible causes. Replace worn belts or brushes.
Attention. To avoid damage to the wiper arms or mechanism, never move the wiper blades on the glass by hand.
Note: If both wiper arms must be lifted off the glass at the same time, lift the left wiper arm first to avoid damaging them (located on the driver's side), and then the right lever. Accordingly, when lowering the levers to the working position, first lower the right lever onto the glass (located on the passenger side), and then left.
1. Raise the wiper arm.
2. Release the clip and slide the brush relative to the lever in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure.
3. Tilt the brush against the lever and remove the brush.
Attention. To prevent damage to the windshield, hold the lever and lower it carefully onto the glass. Do not allow the end of the lever to hit the windshield.
4. Bend down the end of the cleaning tape and pull it out of the holder.
5. Remove the spring ribs from the rubber band and insert them into the new brush band.
Attention.
- Do not bend or discard the spring fins. They are reusable.
- If the spring ribs are not installed in the band, the quality of glass cleaning may deteriorate. It is forbidden to use the spring ribs removed from the left wiper blade for installation in the right brush and vice versa.
- Make sure that the spring fins are properly installed in the new wiper rubber band so that the bending of the band remains the same as the old band.
6. Carefully insert a new cleaning tape. Then install the brush assembly to the wiper arm in reverse order.
Replacement of a brush of a cleaner of back glass
If the windshield wiper does not clean the glass well, then the possible causes are wear or cracks in the cleaning belt of the brush. Replace worn belt or brush.
Attention. To avoid damage to the wiper arm or mechanism, do not move the wiper blade by hand on the glass.
1. Raise the wiper arm and turn the blade to the right to release the blade retainer. Then remove the brush.
Attention. To prevent damage to the liftgate glass, be careful not to hit the wiper arm on the glass.
2. Bend down the end of the cleaning tape and pull it out of the holder.
3. Remove the spring fins from the cleaning tape and insert them and a new cleaning tape.
Attention. Do not bend or discard the spring fins. They are reusable.
4. Carefully insert a new cleaning tape. Then install the brush assembly to the wiper arm in reverse order.
