Attention. The valve springs for the intake and exhaust valves are different. Therefore, before measuring the length of the springs in the free state, it is necessary to determine the belonging of the valve spring by the presence of a color mark or its absence.
1. Using a special tool, measure the height of the valve spring. If the measured value is not correct, replace the valve spring with a new one.
Note: Mounting height of the valve spring when applying a force of 228-252 N: 38.0 mm.
2. Using a square, measure the deviation from perpendicularity of the valve spring:
Rotate the valve spring one full turn and measure distance A at the point of maximum clearance. If the measured value exceeds the limit, replace the valve spring with a new one.
Note:
Maximum permissible deviation of the valve spring from perpendicularity:
- Inlet: 2.0° (1.7 mm).
- Outlet: 2.0° (1.7 mm).
