2. Check the deformation of the contact surface on the side of the combustion chambers in six directions, as shown in the figure, using a measuring ruler and a set of flat feeler gauges. If the amount of deformation exceeds 0.05 mm, replace the cylinder head with a new one. Do not attempt to repair the cylinder head by milling or grinding.
3. Check the contact surfaces of the exhaust and intake manifolds for deformation using a straight edge and a set of flat feelers as shown in the figure.
If the deformation on the intake manifold side exceeds the limit, replace the cylinder head with a new one.
If the deformation on the exhaust manifold side exceeds the limit, mill the surface or replace the cylinder head.
Note:
Maximum allowable deformation of the contact surface:
- Intake manifold: 0.10 mm.
- Exhaust manifold: 0.05 mm.
Permissible amount of deformation of the contact surface for processing (an exhaust manifold): 0.20 mm.
