Removal the cylinder head (Mazda CX-5KE)

Note: : replace the part with a new one after each removal.


1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the decorative engine cover.

3. Remove the ignition coils/ion sensors.

4. Remove the front protective tray No.2.

5. Remove the mudguard.

6. Remove the accessory drive belts.

7. Drain the engine oil.

8. Drain the coolant.

9. Remove the intake manifold.

10. Direct the exhaust manifold to the rear of the vehicle.

11. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses.



12. Remove the vacuum pump.

13. Remove the high pressure fuel pump with the rear casing.

14. Disconnect the heater hoses from the inlet and outlet ports.

15. Remove the engine oil pan.

16. Remove the timing chain with the damper (see the relevant section above in this chapter).

17. Disconnect and remove all cooling system pipes and hoses from the cylinder head.

18. Holding the camshaft with an adjustable wrench by the hexagonal part, unscrew the phase shifter mounting bolts and remove them from the camshafts.

19. Loosen the mounting bolt and remove the oil control valve (OCV).

20. Before removing the camshaft covers, check the axial play of the camshafts (see section "Checking camshafts" below).

21. Loosen the camshaft cover mounting bolts in two or three steps in the sequence shown in the figure and remove the camshaft covers.

22. Remove the OCV oil filter from the front camshaft cover.



23. Remove the camshafts from the cylinder head.

24. Remove the rocker arms from the cylinder head and arrange them in the order corresponding to the cylinders so that they can be installed in their proper places during assembly.
