Attention.
  • A hot engine can cause burns. Before starting work, turn off the engine and wait until it cools down.
  • Do not disassemble the electric phase shifter as it is a precision unit.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the decorative engine cover.

3. Remove the electric valve timing motor.

4. Rotate the eccentric shaft of the electric phase shifter by hand to ensure smooth rotation. If jamming is felt, replace the electric phase shifter with a new one.

Note:
  • To facilitate turning the eccentric shaft, hook your finger into the connecting groove.
  • The eccentric shaft stops rotating when it reaches the maximum lag position when rotating counterclockwise (if you look from the front), and also when reaching the position of maximum advance when rotating clockwise.
  • The eccentric shaft rotates 15.8 revolutions from the maximum retardation position to the maximum advance position.
