Disconnect the gearbox from the engine.
Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds, pipelines, generator, gearbox crankcase amplifier, ignition distribution sensor from the engine.
Install the washed and cleaned engine on a stand for disassembly.
Remove the toothed belt and camshaft pulley.
Remove the cylinder head.
Remove the clutch cover and clutch disc, then remove the flywheel, blocking it with a Mazda 49E 301 060 retainer.
Remove the water pump.
Turn the engine over with the crankcase up and remove the oil sump with gasket.
Remove the oil pump receiver.
Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal holder.
Remove the front cylinder block cover.
Check for marks on pistons and connecting rods.
Loosen the nuts of the connecting rod bolts, remove the connecting rod caps and put them in order along with the liners.
Carefully remove the pistons with connecting rods through the cylinders and put them in order with the liners.
Remove the main bearing caps together with the lower bearing shells by marking or verifying that the bearing caps are marked, and place the caps in order with the lower bearing shells.
Remove the crankshaft from the bearing seats, and then the upper shells and thrust half rings from the 4th support.
Remove the oil filter and oil pressure switch.
On the B6 EGI engine, remove the piston oil sprayers.
