Many parts are made of aluminum and require handling accordingly. If you need to hammer to separate a specific part, use only rubber, plastic or leather hammers. If you don't have a mounting stand, it's best to cut some wooden blocks onto which to mount the engine so that you can access the top and bottom of the engine. If a mounting stand is used, you need to unscrew the exhaust pipe and secure the engine with studs on the stand. After removal, the cylinder head, together with the metal clamp into which the intake manifold studs are screwed, can be clamped in a vice. The general sequence of engine disassembly is given below and specific disassembly details with corresponding captions will be described below. The cylinder head can be removed with the engine installed. The drive belt can be tensioned or replaced with the engine installed. The engine is disassembled in the following sequence.
