Vehicles since 10/89 (not all-wheel drive), except models "station wagon"
The hub bearing on vehicles from 10/89 is located in the hub, on which the brake drum or brake disc is attached. To mount the bearing, a special puller or press is required, so it is advisable to remove the hub with the bearing and install a new one in a specialized workshop.
Removing
2 - hub cap; 3 - hub nut; 4 - brake drum; 5 - hub with bearing
1. Remove the hub cap with a screwdriver or pliers.
2. Loosen the hub nut with the vehicle on the ground.
Attention! Large tightening torque, risk of accident!
3. Remove the brake drum or disc, see Chapter Brake system.
4. Remove the hub from the stud and have the bearing replaced by a specialist workshop.
Installation
1. Put on the hub and screw on new self-locking nut without completely tightening it.
2. Install the brake drum or brake disc with caliper, see Chapter Brake system.
3. Screw on the wheel, taking into account the mark on the hub. Lower vehicle and tighten wheel nuts 100 Nm.
4. Tighten the hub nut firmly 200 Nm.
5. Hammer the shoulder of the hub nut into the groove of the trunnion with a not very sharp chisel. This serves to protect against loosening of the nut.
6. score new hub cap with pipe.
Attention! Deformed caps must be replaced, because due to leaks, moisture can get into the hub bearing and destroy it in a short time.
