Attention! When the battery is disconnected, the data from the fault memory of the engine control unit, anti-lock system, as well as other constantly operating devices are erased (e.g. radio and clock). Before switching off, read the data from the fault memory. Some radios have a security code. The coding prevents unauthorized activation of the receiver after a power failure. The power is turned off, for example, when the battery is disconnected, when the radio is removed, or when a fuse blows. If the radio is coded, determine the security code before switching off. If the code is unknown, only the manufacturer can turn on the receiver.
Removing
1. Turn off the ignition and vehicle lighting. This prevents damage to electronic control devices (e.g. engine control unit).
2. Open the hood. The battery is located in the engine compartment on the left side.
3. Disconnect the cables from the battery, first the earth cable -1-, then the positive cable -2-. First remove the rubber cap -3-. Next to the battery poles, the corresponding + and - signs are squeezed out.
4. Unscrew and take out the fastening bracket -4-.
5. Remove the battery.
Attention! The battery contains toxic substances and should not be disposed of with household waste. Old batteries should be taken to special points.
Installation
1. Before installation, clean the battery poles, a brass wire brush is suitable for this. To protect against corrosion, coat the poles with a special grease, such as BOSCH pole grease.
2. Insert the battery.
3. Install and loosely screw on the fastening bracket.
4. Connect the positive cable to the positive pole of the battery, the earth cable to the negative pole of the battery.
Attention! An improperly connected battery can cause significant damage to the generator and electrical equipment.
5. Put the plastic cap on the positive pole.
6. If required, program the radio.
7. Set the time on the clock.
