1. Too much resistance in the ignition cable can cause difficult starting and misfiring.

2. Turn off the ignition.

3. Remove the ignition cable by removing the plugs on the distributor and spark plug.

4. Check the resistance between the distributor cap plug contact and the spark plug tip contact. The resistance should be 16 kOhm per meter.

5. If the resistance is too high, clean the plugs and repeat the measurement; replace the cable if necessary.

6. Bend the spark plug wires at the spark plug tips and check for cracks; replace all spark plug wires if necessary.

7. Connect the spark plug tips and ignition cables.
