Removing
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Attention! This erases the data from the engine fault memory or the radio's security code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in Section Removing and installing the battery.
2. If present, disconnect vacuum line -1- from ignition distributor.
3. Unscrew the 2 fastening bolts and set aside the distributor cover -4- complete with ignition cables -2-.
4. Disconnect plug -3-.
5. To unscrew bolts of fastening of the distributor of ignition.
6. To take out the distributor from a head of cylinders.
Installation
1. Check the oil seal on the distributor base for damage.
2. Lubricate the oil seal with engine oil.
Until 9/89, issue.
1. Set the piston of the 1st cylinder to the ignition position
2. Insert the distributor, while the marked side of the bracket on the distributor shaft must match the mark on the distributor body.
3. Install the fastening bolts and screw the distributor.
Since 10/89, issue.
1. Insert the distributor, making sure that the grip on the distributor fits into the groove on the camshaft. To do this, lightly press the distributor into the hole and at the same time turn the shaft with the distributor rotor until it snaps into place and the rotor stops rotating.
Attention! The distributor gripper can only be in one position in the camshaft groove.
2. Align the distributor so that the threaded holes are in the middle of the elongated holes. Install mounting bolts and tighten firmly 25 Nm.
3. Clean the distributor cap from the inside, check for cracks and carbon deposits, replace if necessary.
4. Put on the cover of the distributor and screw it with 2 bolts.
5. Plug in the plug.
6. If removed, connect the vacuum line to the distributor vacuum device.
7. Connect the battery ground cable.
8. If available, set the clock and set the radio security code.
9. Check ignition timing, adjust if necessary.
