Removal
Remove the timing chain.
Remove the EGR valve pipe and bracket
Remove the front heated oxygen sensor
Remove the accelerator cable and bracket
Remove the fuel supply hose and fuel injector wiring harness
Remove the air hose, throttle body and intake manifold
Disconnect the following elements:
- rear Heated Oxygen Sensor Connector;
- main muffler.
Remove the three-way catalytic converter.
Remove the upper radiator hose.
Remove the heater radiator hose.

Loosen the camshaft bearing cap mounting bolts in 2-3 passes in the order shown in the figure (fig. 2.271).
Remove the camshaft bearing caps.

Loosen the cylinder head mounting bolts in 2–3 passes in the order shown in Figure 2.272 and remove them.
Installation

Measure the length of each cylinder head bolt (fig. 2.273).
If the bolt length exceeds the maximum value, replace the cylinder head bolt.
- Standard L: 128.9–129.5 mm.
- Maximum L:130.2 mm.

Tighten the cylinder head mounting bolts in three stages in the order shown in Figure 2.274.
- Tightening torque: 17.5–22.5 Nm.
- Angle tension: 85°-95°.
