Attention.
  • When performing work related to airbag system components, observe all necessary precautions and safety precautions (see section at the beginning of the chapter).
  • If the side airbag module is installed in the back of the seat with debris of foreign materials, if the airbag is triggered, this debris can cause injuries. Make sure that there are no foreign materials in the seat back before installing the side airbag module.


1. Turn off the ignition.

2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait at least one minute.

3. Remove the front seat from the vehicle.

4. Remove the seat back trim with the panel.

5. Disconnect the side airbag module connector.

7. Unscrew the nuts.

8. Remove the side airbag module.

9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

10. Turn on the ignition (engine off or on).

11. Check that the air bag indicator flashes for 6 seconds and goes out. If the air bag indicator does not come on, perform an on-board self-diagnosis check of the system using the M-MDS.
