Caution: When performing work related to airbag system components, observe all necessary precautions and safety precautions (see section at the beginning of the chapter).
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait at least one minute.
3. Partially bend back the door seal.
4. Remove the following parts:
- Versions with sunroof: roof sunroof seal.
- A-pillar trim.
- The navigator's lamp.
- Sun visor.
- Front threshold trim.
- Rear threshold trim.
- Lower trim of the B-pillar of the body.
- Front passenger seat belt adjuster cover.
- Upper front seat belt anchor.
- Upper trim of the B-pillar of the body.
- Handrail.
- Trunk floor.
- Trunk lid trim.
- Side trim of the trunk.
- Trim of the D-pillar of the body.
- The trim of the C pillar of the body.
5. Remove the ceiling trim.
6. Using a flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry up the retaining device, but do not remove it.


7. Disconnect the connector.
8. Remove the retainer:
Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the pin as shown in the figure.

Insert a flat-head screwdriver as shown in the figure.

Pull the curtain airbag in the direction of the arrow in the figure (1), and detach the strips by prying them with a flat-head screwdriver in the direction of the arrows (2) and (3).

Remove the retainer from the body.
9. Unscrew bolts A and B.
10. Unhook hooks A and B from the body.
11. Remove the curtain airbag module.
12. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
13. Turn on the ignition (engine off or on).
14. Check that the air bag indicator flashes for 6 seconds and goes out. If the air bag indicator does not come on, perform an on-board self-diagnosis check of the system using the M-MDS.
