In the case of vehicles with type A instrument cluster, some visual warning lights and indicators are displayed directly on the instrument cluster.

Warning messages - indication on the display (for vehicles with type A instrument cluster)
The display shows messages related to the operation of the vehicle systems or their malfunction. If malfunction messages appear on the display, you must check the condition of the vehicle or contact an authorized Mazda dealer service station.
If the brake system malfunction indicator lights up
If the indicator remains on after the parking brake has been completely released, there may be a fault with the brake system.
Taking precautions, immediately pull over to the side of the road or to the edge of the roadway and stop.
You may notice that the brake pedal effort has increased or that the brake pedal travel has increased (when pressed, the pedal dropped closer to the floor than usual). In both cases, the braking distance of the car will increase.
1. Turn off the engine and immediately check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If necessary, add brake fluid and bring its level to the norm.
2. After adding brake fluid, check whether the indicator continues to light.
If the indicator remains on or there are other signs of a brake system malfunction, further driving of the vehicle is prohibited. Have the vehicle towed to an authorized Mazda dealer.
Even if the indicator goes out, you should immediately have the condition of the vehicle's brake system checked at an authorized Mazda dealer service station.
Note: The need to top up the brake fluid may sometimes be due to a loss of tightness in the brake hydraulic system and a leak of brake fluid. Therefore, immediately contact an authorized Mazda dealer to check the serviceability of the brake system, even if the indicator no longer lights up.
Warning: Do not continue driving your vehicle when the brake system malfunction indicator is on. You must immediately contact an authorized Mazda dealer for repairs. It is dangerous to operate your vehicle when the brake system malfunction indicator is on. This indicates that your vehicle's brake system may have completely lost its functionality or may fail at any time. If the indicator remains on, after checking that the parking brake is released, you must immediately have the brake system checked at an authorized Mazda dealer.
If the main malfunction indicator light comes on
The indicator lights up continuously when the following events occur. In such cases, you should contact the service station of the official Mazda dealer:
- the energy regeneration system during braking is faulty;
- the battery charge control system is faulty;
- the brake pedal sensor is faulty.
In the case of a vehicle with a Type A instrument cluster, if there is a malfunction in the system, check the vehicle condition or contact an authorized Mazda dealer.
If the ABS malfunction indicator light comes on
If the ABS malfunction indicator comes on while the vehicle is moving, this indicates that the ABS control unit has detected a malfunction. In this case, the ABS system is disabled, but your vehicle's braking system remains fully functional and will function as if the vehicle did not have an ABS system at all. If the ABS malfunction indicator comes on, you should immediately contact an authorized Mazda dealer for service.
Note: If the vehicle's battery is discharged and the engine is jump-started from another vehicle's battery, the ABS malfunction indicator may come on due to uneven crankshaft rotation. This is due to the discharged battery and does not indicate a malfunction of the anti-lock braking system. Charge the battery.
If the brake system and ABS system malfunction indicators light up at the same time
If the electronic brake force regulator control unit detects a malfunction of one of the system elements, the brake system and ABS system malfunction indicators light up simultaneously. The most likely reason for both indicators to turn on is a malfunction of the electronic brake force regulator.
Warning. Do not continue driving the vehicle if the brake system and ABS system malfunction indicators are on at the same time. Have the vehicle immediately towed to an authorized Mazda dealer for a brake system check. It is dangerous to drive the vehicle if the brake system and ABS system malfunction indicators are on at the same time. In this case, during emergency braking, the rear wheels may lock prematurely and much earlier than expected if the electronic brake force regulator is in good condition.
If the low battery indicator lights up
If the indicator comes on while the vehicle is moving, this indicates a malfunction of the electric generator or battery charging system. Taking precautions, immediately pull over to the side of the road or to the edge of the roadway and stop. In such cases, you must contact an authorized Mazda dealer service station.
Attention. If the battery discharge indicator is lit, then further operation of the vehicle is prohibited, since in this case the engine may unexpectedly stall. This may cause a traffic accident.
If the engine oil pressure warning light comes on
This indicator warns the driver about the absence or unacceptably low oil pressure in the engine lubrication system.
If the indicator comes on while the vehicle is moving, follow these steps.
1. Taking precautions, immediately pull over to the side of the road or to the edge of the roadway and stop on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and wait five minutes for the engine oil to drain into the engine sump.
3. Check the engine oil level. If the oil level is below the norm, add the required amount of the specified grade to the engine, bringing the oil level to the norm.
4. Start the engine and check if the indicator remains on.
If the indicator light remains on even after adding engine oil, immediately turn off the engine and tow the vehicle to an authorized Mazda dealer.
Warning: Do not operate the engine with the low oil pressure warning light on. This will cause engine failure.
If the engine system malfunction indicator lights up or starts flashing
If the indicator lights up while the car is moving, this may indicate a malfunction of the engine systems. It is important that the driver notices and records (remembers) when, under what circumstances and under what driving conditions the indicator lights up, in order to then inform the specialists of the official Mazda dealer service station about this.
The engine system malfunction indicator may light up in the following cases:
- very low fuel level in the tank or the tank is almost empty;
- the engine electrical system is faulty;
- the exhaust gas neutralization system is faulty.
If the warning light is still on or constantly flashing, then it is forbidden to operate the vehicle at high speed, and the engine-at high speeds. Slow down and immediately contact your nearest authorized Mazda dealer service station for vehicle inspection and repair.
If the red engine coolant overheating indicator lights up or starts flashing
The indicator starts to flash when the engine coolant temperature reaches a high value and remains on continuously as the coolant temperature increases further.
Necessary actions of the driver
If the indicator light flashes, reduce speed and continue driving at low speed to reduce the load on the engine.
If the indicator light stays on, it indicates that the engine may be overheating. Take precautions and immediately pull over to the side of the road or the edge of the roadway and stop. Then turn off the engine.
Warning. Do not operate the vehicle if the engine coolant overheating indicator is on. Failure to observe this requirement will result in engine failure.
If the yellow i-stop system malfunction indicator lights up or starts flashing
If the indicator light is constantly on
If the yellow i-stop system malfunction indicator light is constantly on (except for the situations described above, when the hood is open or the driver's seat belt is unfastened and the driver's door is open), you should contact the service station of an authorized Mazda dealer.
If the indicator is flashing
The indicator flashes in case of any malfunction of the i-stop system. In such cases, it is necessary to contact the service station of the official Mazda dealer.
If the yellow RVM lane departure warning light comes on - RVM (some performances)
If the RVM system is faulty, the indicator will remain yellow. Contact an authorized Mazda dealer.
Note: The indicator may turn on as a result of a temporary decrease in the sensitivity of the radar sensor due to bad weather or contamination of the bumper surface. However, this does not indicate a malfunction of the system.
If the yellow Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) indicator starts flashing (some performances)
The indicator flashes if there is a system malfunction. Contact an authorized Mazda dealer to have the vehicle checked.
The LDWS system does not operate when the indicator is flashing.
Attention.
- The following warning light behavior may indicate a system malfunction. Contact an authorized Mazda dealer to have the vehicle checked.
- The indicator flashes while the vehicle is moving.
- The indicator does not light when the ignition is turned on.
- All wheels of the vehicle must use completely identical tires of the size specified by the manufacturer. Tires must be of the same brand, model and with the same tread pattern. It is prohibited to use tires on the vehicle that differ significantly in the degree of tread wear. Installing such tires on the vehicle may cause the LDWS system to malfunction.
- Installing a small spare tire on your vehicle may impair the functionality of the system.
If the 4WD light comes on or the all-wheel drive transmission malfunction indicator starts flashing (some performances)
The indicator may turn on and remain lit or flash in the following cases.
- The indicator lights up continuously when there is a malfunction in the all-wheel drive transmission.
- The indicator lights up continuously when there is too much difference in the diameter of the front and rear wheels.
- The indicator flashes when the transmission oil in the final drive overheats.
- The indicator flashes if the rotation speeds of the front and rear wheels differ greatly over a long period of time. This happens, for example, when driving the car off an icy section of the road, when trying to get the car out of a jam in wet soil, sand, etc.
If the indicator light is constantly on
In this case, you need to contact the service station of an authorized Mazda dealer.
