Checking the high pressure fuel pump (Mazda CX-5KE)

Note: The following vacuum values are given as pressure relative to the fuel pressure sensor value.


1. Make sure the fuel pressure sensor is working properly.

2. Connect the M-MDS device to the DLC-2 diagnostic connector.

3. Turn on the ignition (do not start the engine).

4. Select "FUEL_PRES", "LOAD" and "RPM" in the M-MDS device.

Caution: If the engine is running at too high a speed, it may be damaged. When accelerating the engine, be careful not to increase the engine speed excessively.


5. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down, wait until "LOAD" on the device shows more than 60% and make sure that "FUEL_PRES" is approximately 15.0 MPa (153 kg/cm²). If the obtained value does not correspond to the norm, replace the high-pressure fuel pump with a new one.
