Remove parts in sequence. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery first.
Attention! This erases the data from the engine fault memory or the radio's security code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in Section Removing and installing the battery. After installing the battery, connect the ground cable and, if available, set the time on the clock and set the security code of the radio.
Removing
1. Open the hood.
2. Remove the supply hose for the washer nozzles.
3. Mark the installation position of the hood, to do this, circle the nuts or bolts on the hinges with a felt-tip pen.
4. To turn out bolts/nuts on the hinge and to remove a cowl. This requires the help of an assistant. Before loosening the hinge bolts, place a cloth to protect the paintwork between the hood and the body.
Installation
1. Install the hood, screw in the nuts/bolts, align the hood and tighten the bolts.
2. To put on a hose of screen wiper nozzles.
Hood adjustment
1. Loosen the bolts on the hood hinge and tighten until the hood can still be moved. Adjust the hood to the specified dimensions. On vehicles with 9/85 By 9/89 G. issue align the hood so that it is parallel and at the same distance from all surrounding elements.
2. Loosen both bolts securing the hood lock so that the lock is still moving. Sedan/Compact
3. Slide the lock so that the closed hood is flush with the fenders and the locking hook fits securely into the hood latch. Tighten the bolts 10 Nm, nuts with force 25 Nm.
