- Brake fluid is poisonous. Never suck brake fluid out of the hose with your mouth. Pour brake fluid into containers intended exclusively for it.
- Brake fluid is corrosive and should therefore not come into contact with painted surfaces; if necessary, wipe off immediately and rinse with plenty of water.
- Brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture from the air. Therefore, brake fluid should be stored in a closed container.
- Brake fluid that has already been used in the system should not be added a second time. Also, when bleeding, only add fresh brake fluid.
- Brake fluid specification: FMVSS 116 DOT 3 or SAE J1703.
- Brake fluid should not come into contact with grease and mineral oil. Even minor traces of mineral oil make the brake fluid unusable or lead to failure of the brake system.
- Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years, if possible after the end of the winter season.
- Old brake fluid should be taken to special points, not poured into the sewer. Do not mix brake fluid with engine oil.
