To ensure uniform braking on both sides, both brake discs must have the same surface. Therefore, it is essential replace both brake discs on one axle.
Cars produced before 9/89 and station wagon models: To remove the front brake discs, you must contact a workshop, since this work requires disassembling the hub and, accordingly, a press is required, see Chapter Suspension and steering system.
Attention! When replacing brake discs, the brake pads must also be replaced.
Removal
1. Remove the brake caliper and hang it on a wire to the body with the brake hose connected.

2. Cars up to 9/89 and station wagon models: For removal rear brake disc, straighten the lock plate with a hammer and chisel and loosen the hub nut.
Attention! On the left side, the hub nut has a left-hand thread, to loosen it you need to turn it to the right (clockwise).
3. Remove the brake disc.
Installation
1. Clean new brake discs from protective varnish using nitro thinner.

2. Cars up to 9/89 and station wagon models: Replace the hub bearing in the new brake disc. Install the rear disc with the bearing and adjust the hub bearing play, see Chapter Suspension and steering system.
3. Cars from 10/89, except for the station wagon model: Insert the brake disc and lightly screw on the 2 wheel nuts to secure the brake disc.
4. Install the brake caliper, see Section Removal and installation the brake caliper.
