Gasoline engine
Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Warning! This will erase the engine fault memory or the radio security code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in Section Removal and installation the battery.

2. Disconnect the multi-pin plug "2" behind the generator.
3. Unscrew the main cable "3" from the terminal IN.
4. Remove the V-belt, see Chapter Petrol engines, Chapter Removal and installation/tensioning the V-belt.
5. Unscrew the bolts on the generator bracket, as well as on the tension bracket and remove the generator.
Installation
1. Insert the generator and screw it to the bracket without tightening it completely.
2. Insert the tension bolt.
3. Check the wear of the V-belt and replace if necessary.
4. Apply and tension the V-belt, see Chapter Petrol engines, Chapter Removal and installation/tensioning the V-belt.
5. Tighten the mounting bolt with force 50 Nm, tension bolt with force 25 Nm.
6. Connect the electrical wires to the generator.
7. Connect the ground cable to the battery.
8. If available, set the time on the clock and set the security code for the radio receiver.
Diesel engine
Removal
1. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery.
Warning! This will erase the engine fault memory or the radio security code. Before disconnecting the battery, read the instructions in Section Removal and installation the battery.
2. Raise the front of the vehicle, see Chapter Introduction.

3. Unscrew the exhaust pipe.

4. Disconnect vacuum hoses "2", having first loosened and moved the clamps.
5. Disconnect oil hoses "3". Collect leaking oil. Cover surrounding parts with a rag.
6. Disconnect the multi-pin plug "5" from behind the generator.
7. Unscrew the main cable "4" from terminal B.
8. Remove the V-belt "6", see Chapter Petrol engines, Chapter Removal and installation/tensioning the V-belt.
9. Unscrew the bolts on the generator bracket, as well as on the tension bracket and remove the generator "7" downwards.
Installation
1. Insert the generator and screw it to the bracket without tightening it completely.
2. Insert the tension bolt.
3. Check the wear of the V-belt and replace if necessary.
4. Apply and tension the V-belt, see Chapter Petrol engines, Chapter Removal and installation/tensioning the V-belt.
5. Tighten the mounting bolt with force 50 Nm, tension bolt with force 25 Nm.
