If an old V-belt is installed, it should always be checked for wear and damage. If the side surfaces are worn, cracked or torn, the belt should be replaced in any case. When installing, make sure that the belt fits correctly on all pulleys.

V-belt for generator and water pump

V-belt for generator and water pump

1. Loosen the adjusting screw and mounting bolt.

2. Tilt the generator towards the engine and remove the V-belt.

3. Install the new belt and tighten the nut and lock screw.

4. Check the tension between the alternator and water pump pulleys -arrow-. When applying a force of 100 N (10 kg), which is approximately equivalent to pressing with your thumb, measure the belt deflection, see the required values in the table.

Engine designation deflection in mm
new belt used belt
E1, E3, E5 12 — 13 13 — 14
B3, B5, B6 8 — 9 9 — 10
PN (Diesel) 9 — 10 10 — 10, 5

5. Tighten the adjusting bolt with force 25 Nm, fastening bolt with force 50 Nm.

Servo pump V-belt (gasoline engine)

Servo pump V-belt (gasoline engine)

1. Loosen the lock nut and mounting bolt.

2. Turn the adjusting bolt so that the V-belt can be removed. Remove the V-belt.

3. Apply the V-belt and adjust the tension with the bolt.

4. Check the tension between the crankshaft pulley and the servo oil pump pulley -arrow-. When applied with a force of 100 N (10 kg), which is approximately equivalent to pressing with your thumb, new the belt should sag 8-9 mm, used belt on 9-10 mm.

5. Tighten the lock nut with force 25 Nm, fastening bolt with force 45 Nm.
