- Be sure to use unleaded gasoline.
- If the car was accidentally filled with leaded gasoline, the exhaust pipe before the catalytic converter and the catalytic converter must be replaced. Before installing new parts, at least 2 fills with unleaded gasoline should be made.
- Do not start the engine by pushing or towing the vehicle. Unburned fuel, if ignited, can overheat and destroy the catalyst. An auxiliary cable must be used to start.
- Frequent, consecutive cold starts should be avoided. Otherwise, unburned fuel will accumulate in the catalyst, which, when heated, can explode and damage the catalyst.
- In case of difficulties during starting, do not keep the starter turned on for a long time, as this will inject fuel. Determine and eliminate the cause of the problem.
- Do not test for spark with spark plug removed.
- Do not perform a cylinder comparison test by turning off the ignition of one of the cylinders. When one of the cylinders is turned off, unburned fuel enters the catalyst.
- If there are misfires, do not give a high number of revolutions and rectify the fault as soon as possible.
- Do not park your vehicle where flammable materials such as dry grass or leaves may come into contact with the exhaust system. Fire hazard!
