3. Cars produced since 10/89, except station wagon models: Remove the release bearing together with the clutch release fork and then remove the bearing. On all-wheel drive models from 1/90th year of manufacture, take into account the installation position of the intermediate plates, see illustration.

Examination


1. Compress the release bearing and turn it at the same time. On vehicles from 9/89, stretch the bearing and turn it at the same time. If the bearing rotates with difficulty, install a new bearing.



Caution! The bearing is long-term lubricated and should not be cleaned or lubricated.

1. Lightly lubricate the mating surfaces on the release bearing and clutch release fork with MoS ₂ grease.

2. Attach the release bearing to the fork and insert both elements onto the gearbox shaft.

Caution! On all-wheel drive models from 1/90 onwards, there is a needle bearing between the clutch release fork and the release bearing, which facilitates the actuation of the clutch. Before installing a new release bearing, move both intermediate plates with the spring from the old bearing to the new one.




3. Attach the clutch release fork housing to the gearbox housing.

4. If equipped, attach the clutch release lever return spring.
