Removal and installation the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor

Note: Since the IAT sensor #1 is integrated into the MAF sensor, it is not possible to replace these sensors separately.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Disconnect the MAF/IAT sensor connector.

3. Remove the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor.

3. Remove the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor.

4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Checking the mass air flow sensor

Visual inspection

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Disconnect the MAF/IAT sensor connector.

3. Remove the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor.

4. Visually check the mass air flow sensor:
  • for damage, cracks and contamination.
  • for the presence of rust on the sensor terminals.
  • for sensor deformation.

5. If any defects are found, repair or replace the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor with a new one.

Checking voltage

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Remove the MAF/IAT sensor without disconnecting the connector.

3. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

4. Connect the M-MDS device to the DLC-2 diagnostic connector.

5. Turn on the ignition (engine off or on).

6. As the air supply to the MAF/IAT sensor element gradually increases, the sensor output voltage will change (MAF in the M-MDS device). If the voltage value does not change, replace the MAF/IAT sensor with a new one.

Checking the resistance of the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor #1

Note: Since the IAT sensor #1 is integrated into the MAF sensor, it is not possible to replace these sensors separately.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Disconnect the MAF/IAT sensor connector.

3. Measure the resistance between terminals A and B of the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor connector. If the measured value is not within the normal range, replace the mass air flow/intake air temperature sensor.
