Checking the shift lock mechanism
1. Turn on the ignition (engine off).
2. Move the selector lever to position P.
3. Check that the selector lever does not shift from position P to position R when the brake pedal is released. If this is not the case, check the following components:
- Shift lock solenoid.
- Position sensor other than P.
- Brake switch.
- Start-Stop module.
- Engine control unit.
4. Check that the selector lever can be shifted from P to R with the brake pedal depressed. If this is not the case, check the following components:
- Shift lock solenoid.
- Position sensor other than P.
- Brake switch.
- Start-Stop module.
- Engine control unit.
