Checking the shift lock mechanism
1. Turn on the ignition (engine off).
2. Move the selector lever to position P.
3. Make sure that the selector lever does not switch from position P to position R when the brake pedal is released. If this is not the case, check the following components:
- Shift lock solenoid.
- Position sensor other than P.
- Brake switch.
- Start-Stop module.
- The engine control unit.
4. Make sure that the selector lever can switch from position P to R with the brake pedal depressed. If this is not the case, check the following components:
- Shift lock solenoid.
- Position sensor other than P.
- Brake switch.
- Start-Stop module.
- The engine control unit.
