Checks on the removed propeller shaft
1. Using a dial indicator, measure the runout of the center section of the propeller shaft. If the measured value exceeds 0.8 mm, replace the propeller shaft assembly with a new one.

2. Check for play and ease of rotation of the cardan joint by turning it in the direction of the arrows in the figure. If the moment of resistance to rotation of the cardan shaft does not correspond to the norm (0.29-1.47 Nm), replace the cardan shaft with a new one.

Checking the cardan shaft runout
Caution: Do not rotate the propeller shaft away from the engine when performing the check.
1. Shift the transmission into neutral and release the parking brake.
2. Rotate the rear wheels of the car by hand and use a dial indicator to check the runout of the driveshaft at the two points shown in the figure. If the measured value exceeds 0.8 mm, replace the driveshaft with a new one.
