1. Hose.
2. 4WD solenoid connector.
3. Rear final drive oil temperature sensor connector.
4. Rear main gear assembly.
5. Coupling.
6. Washer.
7. Rear final drive mounting bracket.
8. Breather.
9. Rear main gear.
Attention. When replacing a coupling, read the special character string before fitting the new coupling and record it in the four-wheel drive control unit after replacement. A special character string is located at two points on the coupler (see picture).
Attention. Performing the following procedure without first removing the front wheel ABS sensor may result in an accidental open circuit in the wiring harness. Before performing the following procedures, disconnect the front ABS wheel sensor harness (from the side of the drive shaft) and fix the wiring in a suitable place where it will not be erroneously touched when servicing the vehicle.
1. Drain the rear final drive oil into a suitable container.
2. Remove cardan shaft (see relevant section earlier in this chapter).
3. Remove the three-way catalytic converter (see chapter "Intake and exhaust system").
4. Remove the rear drive shafts (see relevant section earlier in this chapter).
5. Disconnect all hoses and connectors from the rear final drive.
6. Support the rear final drive assembly with a jack.
7. Loosen the rear final drive mounting bracket bolt and rotate the bracket as shown.
8. Rotate the rear final drive as shown and remove the rear final drive assembly from the vehicle.
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
Attention. If the rear final drive mounting bracket nuts are loose, tighten the mounting bracket threaded studs.
Tighten the threaded studs of the rear final drive mounting bracket to 30-37 Nm.
10. Fill oil into the rear final drive.
11. Check and, if necessary, adjust the angles of installation of the rear wheels of the car.
