Engines V3, V5, V6

The engine uses a valve timing mechanism with an overhead camshaft, the drive of which is carried out by a toothed belt from a toothed pulley installed on the crankshaft. The belt tension is provided by a mechanical tensioner.

Camshaft

The camshaft is a three-bearing shaft. The shaft is fixed from axial movement by a thrust flange made on the front journal of the shaft.

* The minimum permissible height is indicated in brackets (when worn out).

Engine B6 EGI

The engine uses a valve timing mechanism with an overhead inlet and outlet camshaft, the drive of which is carried out by a toothed belt from a toothed pulley mounted on the crankshaft. The belt tension is provided by a mechanical tensioner.

Camshafts

The camshafts are five-bearing. The shafts are fixed from axial movement by thrust flanges made on the front journals of the shafts.

Valve timing

Start of opening of the intake valve before TDC of the exhaust stroke with an advance of: 5°.

Closing of the intake valve after BDC of the compression stroke with a delay of 51°.

Start of opening of the exhaust valve before BDC of the working stroke with advance: 69°.

Closing of the exhaust valve after TDC of the exhaust stroke with a delay of 1°.

Characteristics of camshafts

Neck diameter, mm: 25.940-25.965.

Neck ovality, no more than, mm: 0.05.

Neck straightness, no more than, mm: 0.03.

Clearance between camshaft journals and bearing holes, mm:
  • nominal: 0.035-0.081;
  • maximum allowable: 0.15.

Axial clearance of camshafts, mm:
  • nominal: 0.07-0.19;
  • maximum allowable: 0.2.

Height of cams, mm:
  • intake: 40.888(40.688)*;
  • graduation: 40,889 (40,689).

* The minimum permissible height during wear is indicated in brackets.
