Pic. 6.22. Dismantling components of the brake master cylinder: 1 – a socket of the gauge of level of a brake liquid; 2 - brake line; 3 - hose (models with manual transmission); 4 - main cylinder; 5 - sealing ring
Removing
Attention! Avoid spilling brake fluid on painted surfaces. If brake fluid comes into contact with a painted surface, wash it off immediately.
Drain the brake fluid.
Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
Disconnect the brake line, disconnect the brake pipes from the master brake cylinder.
Pic. 6.23. Disconnecting the hose from the brake fluid reservoir
Disconnect the hose from the brake fluid reservoir by pressing at the point indicated by the arrow in the figure (pic. 6.23).
Turn away two nuts of fastening, remove the union, the main brake cylinder and a lining.
Installation
Attention! Always install the brake booster tappet gasket before calibration measurements or adjustments.
Pic. 6.24. Installing a special tool on the brake booster
Install the special tool on the brake booster, as shown in Figure 6.24, and tighten with the rated torque.
Tightening torque: 9.8 - 16.0 Nm.
Pic. 6.25. Creating a vacuum in the brake booster
Using a vacuum gauge, create a vacuum in the brake booster to a value of 66.7 kPa (pic. 6.25).
Pic. 6.26. Measuring the length of the pusher
Using a caliper, measure the distance L as shown in Figure 6.26.
Standard length: 22.7 mm.
Pic. 6.27. Pusher length adjustment
If the L dimension is not correct as shown, remove the special tool (49 E043 001) and special device (49 B043 004) adjust the length of the pusher. Use a special tool (E043 003A) to prevent rotation of the pusher (pic. 6.27).
Remove special tool, replace special tool (49 E043 001) and measure the distance L again.
Pic. 6.28. Scheme of the correct installation of the master cylinder on the brake booster
Install the master cylinder to the brake booster (pic. 6.28).
Attention! If, after installing the master cylinder, air does not exit properly from the brake pipes even after the procedure for removing it, the wheels may not completely release the brakes or another defect. Remove the master cylinder and reinstall it properly.
