Initialization of the automatic headlight leveling sensor is required after performing the following operations:
- Removing the automatic control system sensor.
- Disconnecting the automatic control system sensor rod.
- Removing suspension components that affect the vehicle's height.
The AFS control unit records vehicle height data during vehicle inactivity when the automatic headlamp leveling system is initialized.
There are two options for initialising the automatic headlamp levelling system, one of which is performed using the M-MDS diagnostic tool, and the other without it.
Initializing the automatic headlight leveling system using the M-MDS diagnostic tool
1. Unload the car (there should be no passengers or any cargo in the cabin except for a spare tire, jack and a set of tools).
2. Adjust the tire pressure to the norm.
3. Place the car on a level surface.
4. Connect the M-MDS device to the DLC-2 diagnostic connector.
5. After defining the vehicle, select the following parameters:
- "Electrical" (electrics)
- "Exterior lighting" (outdoor lighting)
- "Headlamp" (headlights)
- "Auto Leveling Sensor" (automatic headlight leveling sensor)
- "Auto Leveling Sensors Calibration"
Note: The AFS OFF indicator will continue to flash during the initial initialization - this does not indicate a fault.

7. Adjust the aiming of the headlights.
Initializing the automatic headlight leveling system without using the M-MDS diagnostic tool
1. Unload the car (there should be no passengers or any cargo in the cabin except for a spare tire, jack and a set of tools).
2. Adjust the tire pressure to the norm.
Note: Steps 3 and 4 must be completed within 30 seconds.
3. Turn on the ignition (engine on or off).
Note: The AFS OFF indicator will continue to flash during the initial initialization - this does not indicate a fault.
4. Using a jumper, connect terminals B and J (ground) of the DLC-2 diagnostic connector three times at intervals of 0.5-1.5 seconds, as shown in the figure.
Warning: If the connector terminals are connected incorrectly, there is a risk of vehicle damage or fire. When using a jumper, carefully ensure that the connector terminals are selected correctly.
5. Observe the AFS OFF indicator:
The AFS OFF indicator will flash three times at 0.25 second intervals and turn off as shown in the figure.
If the AFS OFF indicator continues to flash, the procedure was not performed correctly. Repeat the procedure from step 3.
If the AFS OFF indicator remains on, the automatic headlamp leveling system is faulty. Perform a trouble code check. Repair or replace the faulty components, then repeat the procedure from step 3.
6. Adjust the aiming of the headlights.
