Note:
Initialization of the automatic headlight leveling sensor is required after the following operations have been performed:
- Removing the sensor of the automatic control system.
- Disconnection of draft of the gauge of system of automatic control.
- Removal of suspension elements related to changes in vehicle height.
The AFS control unit records the height of the vehicle while the vehicle is not being used when the automatic headlight leveling system is initialised.
There are two options for initializing the auto headlight control system, one with the M-MDS and one without.
Initialization of the automatic headlamp leveling system using the M-MDS diagnostic tool
1. Unload the car (there should be no passengers and any cargo in the cabin, except for a spare wheel, a jack and a set of tools).
2. Adjust tire pressure to normal.
3. Place the vehicle on a level surface.
4. Connect the M-MDS device to the DLC-2 diagnostic connector.
5. After defining the vehicle, select the following options:
- "Electrical" (electrician)
- "Exterior lighting" (Outdoor Lighting)
- "Headlamp" (headlights)
- "Auto Leveling Sensor" (headlight sensor)
- "Auto Leveling Sensors Calibration"
Note: The AFS OFF indicator will continue to flash during initial initialization - this does not indicate a problem.
Note: The AFS OFF indicator will continue to flash during initial initialization - this does not indicate a problem.
7. Adjust the aiming of the headlights.
Initialization of the automatic headlamp leveling system without using the M-MDS diagnostic tool
1. Unload the car (there should be no passengers and any cargo in the cabin, except for a spare wheel, a jack and a set of tools).
2. Adjust tire pressure to normal.
Attention. Steps 3 and 4 should be completed within 30 seconds.
3. Turn on the ignition (engine on or off).
Note: The AFS OFF indicator will continue to flash during initial initialization - this does not indicate a problem.
4. Using a jumper, connect pins B and J three times (weight) diagnostic connector DLC-2 at intervals of 0.5-1.5 seconds, as shown in the figure.
Attention. If the connector pins are connected incorrectly, there is a risk of damage to the vehicle or fire. When using a jumper, you must carefully verify that the connector pins are selected correctly.
5. Watch the AFS OFF indicator:
The AFS OFF indicator will flash three times at 0.25 second intervals and turn off as shown in the figure.
If the AFS OFF indicator continues to flash, the procedure has not been performed correctly. Repeat the procedure from step 3.
If the AFS OFF indicator stays on, the automatic headlight leveling system is malfunctioning. Perform a trouble code check. Repair or replace the defective components, then repeat the procedure from step 3.
6. Adjust the aiming of the headlights.
