Checking heater wires
1. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON".
2. Turn on the rear window defroster.
Attention: when measuring voltage, wrap the end of the voltmeter probe with aluminum foil and press the edge of the foil against the wire with your finger.
3. Connect the positive lead of the voltmeter to the side (1) wires, and connect the negative terminal to ground.
4. Gradually move the probe away from the side (1) to the side (2). Verify that the voltage gradually decreases from 12V to 0V.
If the voltage is absent or changes rapidly, then the wire is damaged. Repair the wire.
Wire repair
1. Clean the ends of the wire at the broken point with solvent and apply protective tape to both ends of the wire.
2. Thoroughly mix the repair compound and, using a fine-tipped brush, apply a drop of the substance to the wire.
Repair Compound: DUPONT PASTE #4817 or equivalent.
3. After a few minutes, remove the protective film and leave the composition to harden for 24 hours.
