Checking the tie rod end
1. Check the tie rod end for damage and the boot for cracks. If defects are found, replace the tie rod end with a new one.
2. Check for excessive play. If a malfunction is found, replace the tie rod end with a new one.
3. Rotate the tie rod end five times.
4. Install two nuts on the ball joint and measure the tie rod end torque with a torque wrench. If the measured value is not correct, replace the tie rod end with a new one.
Note: Tie rod end torque: 0.5-2.1 Nm.
Steering rod check
1. Check the tie rod for deformation or damage. If any defects are found, replace the tie rod with a new one.
2. Check for excessive play. If a malfunction is found, replace the steering rod.
3. Move the tie rod side to side five times.
4. Measure the tie rod swing moment with a dynamometer. If the value obtained is not correct, replace the tie rod.
Note: Tie Rod Swing Torque: 0.4-4.0 Nm (dynamometer value: 8-80 N).
