This chapter also describes the controls on the front panel.
Removing
Remove the steering column switch.
Remove the side screw cover by prying it out with a small screwdriver. At the same time, place a piece of paper under the screwdriver so as not to damage the cover (visor).
Unscrew the screws securing the visor.
Carefully pull the visor forward and unhook it from the bottom of the front panel in two places.
At the rear, remove the plug for heated rear window, clock and rear/front fog lights.
Take out the visor.
Attention: To remove the instrument panel, the speedometer cable is removed, but it remains in the car. If the cable needs to be removed, first mark the position of its installation in order to install it in the same way during installation.
Pry off and pull out the through sleeve for the cable from the bulkhead of the engine compartment.
Note: Wiper drive rods are not shown for clarity.
Pry off and remove the through sleeve for the speedometer drive cable from the protrusion of the partition of the engine compartment.
Loosen the screws securing the instrument panel.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Unscrew the speedometer cable from the gearbox.
Lower the car.
Carefully pull out the instrument panel.
Grab the speedometer drive cable behind the instrument panel, unhook (arrow) and take it off.
Disconnect the plug and remove the instrument panel.
Attention: Do not place the instrument panel with the protective glass down.
Installation
Place the instrument panel and put the plug on its back side.
Put on the speedometer drive cable and secure it.
Carefully slide the instrument panel into the hole in the dash panel.
Raise and support the vehicle.
Tighten the speedometer cable on the gearbox to 7 Nm.
Lower the car.
Tighten the instrument panel mounting screws.
Insert the through bushings of the speedometer drive cable onto the ledge and into the partition of the engine compartment itself.
Install the instrument panel cover. From the back, put on the plugs for the heated rear window, clock and fog lights.
Fasten the visor at the bottom and fasten with three screws. Install the left screw cover.
Install the switch on the steering column.
