Adjusting the parking brake (Mazda 121 (3))

The rear brakes are adjusted automatically according to the wear of the brake pads. Adjustment of the parking brake is therefore only necessary when the parking brake lever or cable is replaced or when the parking brake does not work despite the normal thickness of the pads.

Release the parking brake and press the brake pedal firmly several times to ensure that the brake pads are in the correct position.



Unhook the parking brake boot and fold it up over the handle.



Loosen the adjusting nut (2) of the parking brake cable.

Apply the parking brake to six notches (clicks) (1).

Lightly tighten the adjusting nut to 4 Nm.

Place the boot on the parking brake lever and secure it.

Raise and support the vehicle. Turn the rear wheels by hand with the parking brake released. There should be no braking effect. If there is, repeat the adjustment.
