The brake light switch is located on the pedal block. When you press the brake pedal, the switch turns on the brake light. In addition, the switch serves as a signal source for the ABS/EBV control unit, which controls the braking process. In this regard, the correct installation and adjustment of the switch is very important.

Removal



Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

Note: This will erase the data from the electronic memory blocks. See the instructions in the chapter "Electrical equipment".


Disconnect the plug (1) from the brake light switch.


Disconnect the plug (1) from the brake light switch.

Turn the switch counterclockwise and remove it from the pedal unit.


Turn the switch counterclockwise and remove it from the pedal unit.

Installation/adjustment



Slide the switch into the hole for its mounting.



Pull the brake pedal up with your hand as far as possible, press the switch until the plunger is fully retracted.

Turn the switch approximately 40° clockwise, which will cause it to sit back 1mm and lock into place.

Place the plug on the switch.

Check the operation of the brake signal.

Connect the negative cable to the battery.

Set the clock readings, enter the required codes.
