To release the parking brake, lift the handle slightly, press the locking button and lower the handle down until it stops.

- Do not use the gearshift lever as a substitute for the parking brake. Always apply the handbrake firmly and place the automatic transmission gear lever in position P (park) and the manual transmission gear lever in position 1 (first).
- Stop the engine if you stop the car, even temporarily.
- The car may start moving unexpectedly.
If the parking brake is released and the BRAKE indicator lamp does not go out, this indicates poor braking system function. Check your brakes immediately.
Driving with the parking brake applied consumes a lot of fuel and leads to rapid wear of the brake linings.
