Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121 with 1.3L engine



Removal



Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

Note: This will erase data from electronic memory blocks and codes in the radio receiver.


Remove the air supply hose between the air filter and the throttle body by loosening and moving the clamps.

Disconnect the plug.


Disconnect the plug.

Unscrew the two upper starter mounting bolts, disconnecting the ground wire.


Unscrew the two upper starter mounting bolts, disconnecting the ground wire.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Lower the starter slightly to allow access to the wire connections.


Lower the starter slightly to allow access to the wire connections.



Disconnect the wires from the starter.


Disconnect the wires from the starter.

Remove the starter.

Installation



Install the electrical wires on the starter and secure them.

Place the starter on the flange and slightly tighten the lower bolt.

Lower the car.

Screw in the two upper bolts and tighten them to a torque of 35 Nm, not forgetting to connect the ground wire.

Connect the plug.

Raise and support the vehicle.

Tighten the lower starter mounting bolt to 35 Nm.

Lower the car.

Connect the negative cable to the battery. Set the clock values, if necessary, enter security codes into the radio.

Ford Fiesta with 1.8L diesel engine



Removal



Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.

Note: This will erase data from the memory blocks, including the radio receiver's security codes.


Raise and support the vehicle.

Disconnect the wires from the starter.

Unscrew the starter holder bolts.


Unscrew the starter holder bolts.



Unscrew the starter mounting bolts and remove it.


Unscrew the starter mounting bolts and remove it.

Caution: Guide the starter carefully to avoid damaging the wires.


Installation



Place the starter on the flange and tighten the mounting bolts to a torque of 35 Nm.

Install the starter bracket. Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm and the nuts to 6 Nm.

Connect the electrical wires to the starter and secure them.

Lower the car..

Connect the negative cable to the battery. Set the clock, enter codes into the radio if necessary.

Especially for Ford KA



Note: Only differences from the Ford Fiesta/Mazda 121 models with 1.3L engine are described here.

Disconnect the air flow meter plug.

Pull the air supply hose off the throttle body. To do this, release the clamp and slide it off.

Remove the air filter and take it out together with the air supply hose.

Loosen the top starter mounting bolt. Its tightening torque is 35 Nm.

Disconnect the starter wire from the air cleaner holder.

Unscrew the two starter mounting bolts and remove it. The tightening torque of the bolts is 35 Nm.
