Starter — testing on a car (Mazda Capella GC)

1. If the starter does not turn at all, make sure the gear shift lever is in the "N" or "P" position (automatic transmission).

2. Make sure the battery is charged.

3. If the starter still does not work, then the problem is in the main contacts of the traction relay or in the starter itself.

4. If the solenoid plunger does not click when the switch is actuated, the traction relay is faulty or the solenoid circuit is open.

5. To check the engine, connect a jumper between the battery (B) and the solenoid terminal M. If the starter now works, the engine is working properly and the problem is in the traction relay, ignition switch or wiring.



6. If the starter still does not work, remove the starter and solenoid assembly for testing, repair, or replacement.
